Why Do Plants Need Alive Elite?
Plants need microbes just like people do! In all of us, our gut bacteria break down food, manufacture vitamins and even train our immune system. The same is true for plants!
Plant roots and the soil surrounding them are very similar to animal intestines, and many of the same things happen.
The area where plant roots and soil meet is called the “rhizosphere”. This is where the important processes happen for plant health.
Alive Elite bacteria colonize the moist area where the root meets the soil (the rhizosphere) and perform functions similar to beneficial gut bacteria.
Alive Elite bacteria act as a biofertilizer. Alive Elite bacteria convert “unusable phosphorous or P” in your soil into the form plants need (orthophosphate).
This reduces need for phosphorous fertilizers!
Alive Elite microbes also pull nitrogen from the air and supply nitrogen to the plant (this is called nitrogen fixation, and it reduces need for nitrogen fertilizer).
Alive Elite bacteria even combat greenhouse gas by pulling CO2 from the air and converting it into valuable organic carbon in soil that plants need.

Typical House Plants: Mix 1 ounce of Alive Elite into 10 ounces of water. This mixture can treat up to 10 house plants. For best results, apply every 30 to 60 days.
For large indoor plants: Use 1 oz Alive Elite for each large indoor plant or tree (about 1 ft diameter planter or larger). Shake well, then mix Alive Elite into your normal watering, then water as normal with Alive Elite mixed in. For best results, apply every 30 to 60 days diluted into normal watering.
Dose for Outdoor Gardens and Greenhouses.
Use 1 oz Alive Elite for every 10 square feet of garden. Apply at seeding, and again every 30 to 60 days. Depending on your garden size and your convenience, dose with watering can or with hose end sprayer attachment.
Dosing with Watering Can: If the garden or greenhouse is relatively small, a water can is the easiest way to dose Alive Elite. Simply add the needed amount (1 oz for every 10 square feet) of Alive Elite into the water can, fill with water, then sprinkle on the plants. Try to get most of the water near the seeds or plant stems rather than randomly around the ground. Alive Elite needs to work at the rhizosphere, which means the root zone. Getting more of the product where it is needed leads to the best possible results.
Dosing with Hose End Sprayer: For larger gardens, a hose end sprayer is the easiest and most effective way to dose Alive Elite. 1. Attach the intake straw into the sprayer intake hole (see schematic) 2. Screw the hose end sprayer onto the quart bottle of Alive Elite. 3. Screw on or tighten the garden hose to the sprayer 4. Be sure the sprayer is in the OFF position, and shake the bottle very well. 5. Turn on the water to the hose and point the sprayer at the target plants 6. Turn the sprayer valve to the “spray” position 7. Occasionally turn the spray valve to the off position then back to the “spray” position as this helps prevent clogging of the spray unit! 8. Continue spraying water / Alive Elite until you have dispensed the correct dose to the garden.
How do I know how much Alive Elite I have dispensed from the sprayer?
Alive Elite is packaged in a clear bottle so that you can see how much product remains in the bottle. Every inch is about 4 ounces of product. If you want to apply 4 ounces to your 40 square foot garden, simply continue spraying until the level of Alive Elite in the bottle has gone down about one inch. (2 inches for 8 ounces, 4 inches for 16 ounces, etc).
Dose for Lawns.
Use hose end sprayer for best results. Apply one quart Alive Elite using the hose end sprayer for every 2000 square feet of lawn. For newly planted grass, apply via hose end sprayer at seeding to get germination in 7 days. Dose Alive Elite with a hose end sprayer as soon as the seeds are laid down. Always spray in a pattern than allows the spray to fall down vertically on the seeds, as this helps keeps the seeds in place. Avoid spraying “horizontally”, as this will push grass seeds away.
Whether starting with new seeds or treating existing grass, repeat the dose every 30 to 60 days. As with any irrigation, applying early in the morning or in the evening will help water retention and allow the Alive Elite microbes to reach the rhizosphere.
What if I dose more or less Alive Elite compared to your recommendations?
Generally, use our suggested dose rate. Overdosing with Alive Elite is not harmful but will waste product. Alive Elite is formulated for great results even when used on relatively poor soil. Sometimes you can get good results with a lower dose. Use the comments below as guidance.
- If you want to speed up germination, or really boost your plant growth as much as possible, rather than increasing the dose in any one application, we recommend dosing more frequently at the recommended rate. For example, instead of waiting 30 to 60 days, you can speed up germination or growth by repeating your dose in 7 days. You will not need to dose this frequently very often if at all, but it can be helpful when conditions are especially dry or hot or cool!
- If your soil is very rich, with great conditions for plant growth, you can still get great results with about half the normal dose of Alive Elite. Most users, however, use the recommended dose and find it economical and very effective.
